Background:

The Piscataway Basement Tapes is a collection of various recordings from Alan's tape catalogs ... some made as early as 1976 and some as recent as 1996.

Turnaround was done as a "last salute" to Alan's Roland Jupiter-6 synthesizer, just before he sold it ... Picture You was produced by Craig Krampf at his studio in Brentwood, Tennessee and features Craig doing his thing with percussion ... Circle of Fire, Father & Son and Hard To Find were recorded live in 1994 at Rubber Ball Studios, in North Brunswick, New Jersey -- Alan is playing his 1968 Gibson Hummingbird guitar, and on Circle of Fire he brought along his 1966 Hohner Marine Band No.365 Harmonica (key of G) ... Lady features Mike Toth on bass guitar ... Buffalo, Melody For A Listener, Songbird, Second Pond and Sun Mass Recital were all recorded at home in 1976 with Alan playing his 1975 Guild F212-XL 12-string guitar and Michael Boni playing acoustic lead guitar.   For the greater details, click on the Behind the Songs links.

"This veteran Singer-Songwriter often incorporates rock energy into his storytelling ... but never disrespects the genre's folky roots.   Limited accompaniment, though his sound is very full."
